Canadian Northern Corridor Concept.
Here's the shipping logic tree since politicians have neglected this.
PACIFIC: Self-explanatory. High volume artery and port. Needs new mega-port proposal for expansion room. (Kitimat or Bella Coola)
HUDSON BAY:
- Serves Imports from Europe to Western Canada
- Serves Exports from Western Canada to Europe.
- Can also serve Western Canada to Eastern Canada O&G, since it avoids 2,000km of pipeline. (Faster, cheaper, more versatile)
- Serves Imports from Asia to Eastern Canada. A James Bay port would make sense. (Only 800km to Toronto.)
NWT PRONGS: Local access here makes sense (for natives, and mines). But a Northern Port at Tuktoyaktuk, doesn't. Any goods from here would be going East or West anyway. So East/West ports should be used instead.
EASTERN PRONGS: Newfoundland doesn't make sense. Montreal makes the most sense for a port because it's beyond the Great Lakes Locks. Or Halifax for all-weather access, but it's very far.
Sorry for the logistics overload. But Hudson Bay is literally the Gulf Of Mexico of the north. Build. Merchant. Icebreakers. To. Unlock. It.
